2020 DPW Small Business Development Growth by Design Training Program hosted by
Baltimore City Department of Public Works
Enrollment is Now Open!!!


The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) proudly announces open enrollment for the 2020 DPW Small Business Development (SBD) Growth by Design Training program at a minimum cost this fall to participants who are interested in learning about how to do business with the City.

The SBD Growth by Design Training Program has been completed by 240 small business owners of their employees since 2016. More that 40 businesses have been MBE/WBE certified, 44 have been pre-qualified to work with the City, and more than $3 million in contracts and related services have been awarded to graduates of this program.

This signature Training Program is slated to begin September with an opening ceremony at Morgan State University. Due to COVID-19 there may be limited in-person training, The team is currently evaluating offering alternative, interactive online classes consistent with our past training course.

More specifically, we want to examine how racism, trust, and their ripple effects play into the decisions you make as an entrepreneur. We aim to identify the challenges that Black business owners face and where the opportunities are within local ecosystems to ensure that Black entrepreneurs are able to have a seat at the table as well as access to the resources needed to thrive. There will be three opportunities to participate in these focus groups: August 20th, August 27th, and September 3rd from 3:00-4:30 pm ET.

Laborers Needed for Construction Clean Up!!!!

Keller Professional Services, Inc. is seeking qualified laborers to join its Construction Clean-up Crew for construction projects throughout Baltimore City. Prior construction experience is helpful but not required.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a resident of Baltimore City
  • Must have the strength and endurance to lift heavy debris (50 pounds)
  • Must have the desire and drive to work
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening (upon application and randomly)
  • Criminal Backgrounds considered on an individual basis
  • Two forms of valid ID (Social Security Card and State photo ID/Birth Certificate/or Green Card)
  • 1 Year's experience as a laborer is needed.
